Denali Saddle Safari's
No experience is needed for an adventure with Denali Saddle Safaris. Our horse back rides in the Alaska wilderness surrounding Denali National park are fun for the whole family. We recommend you book early for the best dates. 24 hour notice is required for 1/2 day trips.
Age/ Weight Limits: A minimum of age 7 to ride "on the trail". Under age 7 we offer supervised pony/ horse rides, for $35 per approximate hour. Weight limit for a rider is 250 pounds.
Weather/ Temp: Realistically you should expect temps to range from about 30 to 80 degrees, averaging about 65-75. Mountain weather patterns can change quickly so be prepared for any and everything in one day. Yes the daylight lasts forever...isn’t it awesome!
Physical Ability: This is a physical activity; you need to actively participate. Balance and posture are crucial with the legs and feet bearing most of the weight. Please advise of any limitations prior to arrival.
Clothing/ Gear: Layering your clothing to protect from wet and wind and to provide warmth will be your best defense. Come prepared, no shorts, no sandals, no nylon rain ponchos, etc. Tennis shoe or sneaker is the minimum footgear. We provide high quality rain-gear and gloves. We provide helmets.
Wind through the boreal forests at the treeline boundary with the tundra. 2000' elevation level affords great wildflower and berry picking opportunities. Panoramic views are incredible so bring your camera!
Travel across the open tundra at 2500' at the base of the Alaska Range, then descend into a beautiful ravine that melds into the taiga. Stunning 360 degree panoramic views from start to finish.
Ascend a 3800' ridgeline overlooking Denali National Park's first checkpoint on road at the Savage River. Breathtaking views of Mt. McKinley. Discover pure alpine terrain where 100 year old trees are only 6 inches tall. Some experience required.
Policies
Reservations:
Minimum of 10 P.M. evening prior to departure for 1 & 2 hour rides. Minimums of 24 hours notice for half-day trips. Pack trips require 30 days, preferably. Duration of trips range from 1-7 days. Completely customized.
Deposits:
Credit card (MC, V) is required to hold all reservations. A 50% deposit is required on half-day trips. Pack-trips require a 33% deposit which is nonrefundable. All "no shows" will forfeit deposits.
Cancellations/ Refunds:
One hour of notice is required on hourly trips or a 20% cancellation fee. Pack-trips-30 days notice 66% refund, less than 30 days notice 50% refund. All "no shows" will be charged full rate.
