The Ma Johnson's Hotel is part of the McCarthy Lodge. McCarthy Lodge guests are housed in the fully restored Ma Johnson's building at 101 Kennicott Ave, across the street from the Lodge building. Our historic hotel in downtown McCarthy is within easy access to many of the local eateries, shuttle services, flight & tour vendors. You are invited to stay in the center of one of the most preserved mining towns of Alaska's early pioneering days. You are our honored guest and we will always endeavor to make your stay with us the best experience of your visit to our great land of Alaska.

There are No Bank Services in the McCarthy area and cash back is limited at McCarthy so please bring sufficient cash or traveler's checks with you.

Walk-in Satellite based Internet service is available for a small fee. A public phone is also available on McCarthy Ventures property. You will need a phone card or credit card to access this service. Local calls are free. All guests should know that McCarthy's phone system (Cell via radio link via satellite) allows for only 12 calls in or out of the area at one time. Calling cards from many companies other than AT&T or MCI often fail to complete the connections. The Lodge carries AT&T and MCI calling cards to facilitate your connection to the outside world.

The Hotel offers free transport to and from the parking area about one mile from McCarthy for Ma Johnson guests only. Shuttles run every 1/2 hour until 6PM all through the summer. If our guests arrive by scheduled air flight the air service will provide transport both to and from the airport. If our guests are participating in excursion tours such as glacial hiking, climbing or rafting the tour vendor will provide transport to and from the tours location. The McCarthy Lodge Restaurant will be happy to pack lunches for you.

Cancellation of a booking must be 45 days prior to date booked or advance payments will be forfeited. A credit for future use will be issued for those that need to cancel with 44 days to 24 hours notice. A minimum of 24 hours notice of cancellation is required for a future credit to be issued. A fee of $10.00 will be retained for each room canceled with at least 45 days notice.
