Lancaster's Backpacker Hotel is located in downtown McCarthy and is the only enterprise in downtown that caters to the budget traveler. We are not a hostel. Lancaster's offers private rooms for 1 to 4 persons near all the activity providers. You will find two flight see and backcountry operators, guide services, three restaurants, saloon, laundry services, internet providers, museum, and more all in downtown McCarthy. Lancaster's is a very popular hotel with backcountry hiker's and at present has only 11 rooms. It is highly recommended to reserve early before arriving in McCarthy as we are heavily booked through the peak months of July and August. Temperatures in our glacial valley can vary dramatically. Lancaster's can also store unneeded baggage for you while you visit the spectacular backcountry destinations of this World Heritage Site. Linens, blankets and towels are provided, sleeping bags can be used if you prefer.

Cancellation of a booking must be 45 days prior to date booked or advance payments will be forfeited. A credit for future use will be issued for those that need to cancel with 44 days to 24 hours notice. A minimum of 24 hours notice of cancellation is required for a future credit to be issued. A fee of $10.00 will be retained for each room canceled with at least 45 days notice.
