Midnight Sun Balloon Tours

The adventure begins as you watch your crew assemble the balloon. Then, if you are like most people, you will be surprised to hear the propane burners inflate the balloons. When you are aloft, there's no feeling of movement. The silence is complete so you can often discover moose and other northern animals plus 15-20 species of migratory birds, including hundreds of Sandhill Cranes.

Where Do We Meet?     Launch sites vary from day to day depending on wind conditions. We notify you of the launch site an hour before flight time. Transportation to the launch site can be provided for $10.00 round trip.

What Should We Wear?     Comfortable outdoor clothing is strongly recommended. Long pants and a light jacket are optimum.
Don't forget your camera .

Is It Safe?     You bet! Hot air ballooning is one of the safest forms of flight and Sam, our chief pilot, has more than 11 years of experience. Stan, one of our other pilots, has the distinction of being the first balloonist in Alaska, with more than 30 years of piloting experience. Our equipment is inspected regularly to insure that it remains in perfect working order. And, of course, our equipment and pilots are all certified by the Federal Aviation Administration.

What Can We Expect?     Upon arrival at our launch site you can observe and photograph the inflation of your colorful aircraft. If you're a hands on kind of person you're welcome to help inflate one of our two 106,000 cubic-foot balloons.

Once the envelope is full, the pilot will use the balloon's propane burner to heat the air inside until, standing 7-8 stories tall, you're on your way to enjoying history's oldest, gentlest form of aviation!

When you're in the basket, you'll find there's plenty of room for a comfortable flight. You may not even realize you're airborne until you look down. There's no feeling of movement as you travel with the wind, usually at a brisk walking space.

As you drift over the Tanana Valley be sure to watch for moose and other northern animals. Drink in the dazzling array of wildflowers, crystal rivers and majestic Mount McKinley, North America's tallest mountain!
