Visitors can actually step back in time and join us for a historic tour INSIDE the 14 story Mill Building of the Kennecott Copper Corporation, which was built in the early 1900’s. St. Elias Alpine Guides has the exclusive concession from the National Park Service to lead tours INSIDE the mine buildings! Catch a glimpse of what it was like to live and work in this remote wilderness, as our guides recount tales of lucky fortunes, tenacious frontiersmen, and tragic endings.

This National Historic Landmark is the birthplace of the Kennecott Copper Corporation, and on your 2 ½ hour tour your guide will cover the intricate history of this mine and how it helped shape the face of Alaska.

All tours start from our office in Kennecott, which is the second building on the left as you enter town. The Wrangell Mountain Bus stops in front of our door, with hourly service from McCarthy and the footbridge that will drop you off just in time for our tours. All Prices are per person. All multi-day expeditions require a 50% non-refundable advance payment.
