Fly-In
River Rafting

Three Rivers Fly-In River Rafting
We will rendezvous at
the edge of the Kennicott River, the rock covered terminus of the
Kennicott Glacier less than 500 yards distant. It is a wonderful
reminder of the origins of the chocolate colored water rushing past
and floating our raft. Within minutes after launching we'll careen
through Class III rapids. For 45 minutes the whitewater will keep
the adrenaline pumping, and then the river gives way
to a gentle float. At the junction of the Kennicott and Nizina
Rivers, we are carried west, traversing a wide glacial valley at the
end of which we enter the deep, rock walled Nizina River Canyon. The
river is now forced to twist and even fall back upon its self like a
coiled snake. For an hour we will maneuver through a wonderous maze
and rest stops will be made on narrow sand bars and hidden beaches.
We meet our bush plane
on a gravel bar at the junction of the Nizina and Chitina Rivers.
Two at a time you'll retrace the route you just rafted, and then fly
out over the Kennicott Glacier, getting a birds-eye view of the ice
world below. You'll fly over the Root Glacier, and experience from
the air what you might have explored on the ground on our Glacier
Hike. After a low fly-by of the historic town of Kennecott, you'll
land at the McCarthy airstrip.

The Wrangell and
St. Elias Ranges are some of the most remote and wild
mountains in the world. Weather at times is savage, we
highly recommend giving yourself enough time to explore this
wilderness with weather delays taken into account! We
recommend purchasing a travel insurance policy, as no
refunds will be given due to weather.
All
Prices are per person. All multi-day expeditions require a
50% non-refundable advance payment. |
