Winter Journey #1 - Bush Mail Flight:

No roads serve Bush Alaska, so getting there starts by air.  You will fly by air with a Fairbanks based commuter airline that has flown in the interior and arctic airways since 1959.  They serve 24 communities with more than 10 daily departures, including flights above the Arctic Circle

Best choice Arctic Circle flight departures:

  • 8:00 am, Monday thru Saturday OR 1:30pm Daily --Anaktuvuk Pass Eskimo village in the Brooks Range Mountains at Gates of the Arctic National Park.
  • 12:45 pm Daily -- Fort Yukon village over the White Mountains and Yukon Flats Nation Wildlife Refuge.

Village tours or layovers are NOT included; and duration is 4 hours.

Winter Journey #2 - Above the Arctic Circle in Fort Yukon:

Fly above the Arctic Circle to Fort Yukon village and learn about life in the village today.  One of the oldest settlements in interior Alaska.  The Gwich'in Athabascan Indians have lived here along the Yukon river for over a 1000 years.

  • Daily departure time is 12:45 pm.

Duration of tour is 4 hours and includes a 1 hour guided tour of the village.

 Tour Price - $360.00 per person

Winter Journey #3 - Northern Life in Fort Yukon:

Extended day tour in Fort Yukon village (approx. 6 hours).  Experience today's lifestyle in an Athabascan Indian village, above the Arctic Circle.  Tour is guided and includes lunch and dog sled (or snow machine) journey.  Flight is 1 hour each way, crossing the White Mountains, the Yukon flats National Wildlife Refuge and the Arctic Circle; landing along the Yukon river.

  • Depart Monday thru Friday -- 8:00 am and Daily at 12:45 pm.

Tour Price:   $485.00 per person

Winter Journey #4 - Beaver Village & Japanese History:

This tour includes lunch and guided village lifestyle experience.  Fly over the White Mountains, the Yukon flats National wildlife Refuge and the frozen Yukon River.  Fly north above the Arctic Circle before landing at Beaver, a unique multi-cultural village along the Yukon River.  Discover the Eskimo, Japanese and Athabascan cultural heritage; and, learn about Japanese Pioneer Frank Yasuda, who traveled, with his Eskimo family from Point Barrow to build a trading post here in 1904.  Guided by a Beaver resident, experience the village lifestyle, visit the Yasuda gravesite and see the original settlement cabin.

  • Depart -- Monday thru Saturday at 9:00 am (arrive back in Fairbanks at 4:30 pm)
